About the Blog

Ok, so I had this idea to do a blog....something to do with life and being on a budget and trying to do things with no money, that sort of thing.  Well, as usual I didn't research, or in fact ask my wonderful husband, who knows about these things for advice.  I just made the decision and typed in `how to make a blog'.  I found the word `free' and `google' (a fairly safe name in the world of the web) and clicked.  It asked me to register my email.  At this point I did have a sensible thought and created a new email address, Google of course, it matched the blog provider, so in my head all was well and good.  Once the `compose' screen came up I wrote my introduction, checked it and pressed publish, Bob's your uncle and all that.  It actually worked, and now I am writing this as well.  Check me out!  I have no idea what most of the other functions do, but I have no doubt I will find out.  Either I will let you know or I will accidently delete the whole blog and you will never hear from me again.  Hopefully the first!

The inspiration to create this blog came from a few things; the need to ration absolutely everything I do in this crazy money pinching economic and social climate; a wonderful blog by a wonderfully inspiring Mother of a beautiful little girl who has Downs Syndrome (link is in: `links to the things I like', please take a look); and, the amount of people I know, who struggle to keep the worry and stress of frugal living at bay.  I am by no means an expert on anything in this blog, in fact lots of the things that I may end up talking about, I have never in fact tried before.  I am just simply a mother of two and a wife, trying to live successfully on minimum income, renting a home, whilst at the same time trying to make all our lives a little healthier and as contemporary and interesting as todays obstacles will allow.

I will be talking about the experiments I will do with last nights left overs to make something interesting, healthy and child friendly and how it failed, succeeded or possibly made everyone sick.  I will be boring anyone brave enough to read this blog about how I am moving house and intending to renovate and paint anything standing still in an effort to update and change my furniture on a budget, that is once I have convinced my husband to "go with me on this one".  I may become slightly obsessed with types of paint and sandpaper and how cream chalk paint is better than Dove White, but I will try to keep it all light hearted and vaguely informative if not mildly amusing. I know nothing about renovation, just muddling along; feel free to muddle with me, maybe we can compare notes.

As an after thought, this blog may also be a great way of updating some distant family members on the life of us Ashmore's.  Oh the scary black magic world of cyber space!
